How To Apply

Step 1

Applying – you have two choices:

  1. Applying via Enter Finland e-service

    Fill in your residence permit application via Enter Finland. Choose the correct application form based on why you are coming to Finland (for example, work, studies or a family member in Finland).

    Enter Finland will guide you through the process of filling in your application. You do not need to save your application manually. Enter Finland will save it automatically as you fill it in.

    Pay with a credit card or the online bank credentials of a Finnish bank. If you have issues with paying, please, contact Application Centre.

    Send your supplementary documents via Enter Finland. The documents you attach to your online application have to be in an electronic format. Make sure you attach all the required documents. Print the Certificate of a pending online case. You need to provide the certificate print-out when visiting the Application Centre.

    When you have submitted your application via Enter Finland, you have to visit the Application Centre in order to prove your identity, to present the original copies of the attachments required for your application and to have your fingerprints taken. If you have applied via Enter Finland you need to prove your identity within three months of submitting your application.

  2. Applying in Application Centre

    Select the appropriate residence permit category on website of The Finnish Immigration Service

    You will find the paper application form in the end of chosen residence permit category site. Print the application form.

    Fill in the paper application form in Finnish, Swedish or English and prepare the required documents.

    You must present the original, possibly legalized documents and their translations during submission.

Step 2

Book an appointment to visit Application Centre:

An appointment is available for submission, proving your identity, presenting the original copies of the attachments required for your application and having your fingerprints taken.

If you do not have an identification document, you should visit the Consular Office of Finland in the Philippines for submitting your identification information. In this case, please send an email or call Helpline.

Step 3

Visit the Application Centre:

Please see the Contact Us page for the location of Application Centre.

Submit your residence permit application form along with required supplementary documents.

You should submit your application in person at Application Centre.

An application on behalf of an underage child will need to be filled in and submitted by the child’s legal guardian. The child must be present when the application is submitted.

The legal guardian of the child does not need to accompany the child at Application Centre, but if the person who accompanies the child is not the child’s legal guardian, he or she cannot represent the guardian without power of attorney from the guardian.

The person who accompanies the child must also prove his or her identity.

Step 4

Pay processing fee (if you have not already paid in Enter Finland):

A processing fee is charged at Application Centre for submitting the residence permit and also for additional services (for example legalisation). This fee will not be refunded even if you cancel your application or receive a negative decision. For details on fees please visit the Fees.

Step 5

Submit biometric data:

After submitting residence permit application you are asked to proceed to biometrics booth where your fingerprints, a digital photo and electronic signature will be collected.

Step 6

Data entry on Enter Finland e-service :

You will get a user account created with your e-mail address on Enter Finland. The account is for personal use only. Keep your e-mail address and password safe so you can log into the service later.

Step 7

Your application will be transferred to the processing queue at the Finnish Immigration Service who will make the decision.
